Participants will learn to identify various forms of workplace harassment including sexual harassment (quid pro quo and hostile work environment), discriminatory harassment based on protected characteristics such as race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information, bullying and intimidation, and retaliation against those who report harassment or participate in investigations. The course clarifies that harassment can occur between any individuals regardless of gender or hierarchy and that a single severe incident or pattern of conduct can constitute harassment. Topics include understanding federal laws (Title VII, EEOC guidelines) and state-specific harassment regulations, recognizing harassing behaviors including verbal comments, jokes, slurs, physical conduct, visual displays, and exclusionary practices, the "reasonable person" standard used to evaluate harassment claims, the difference between welcomed and unwelcomed conduct, proper reporting channels including supervisors, HR, and ethics hotlines, the company's investigation process and commitment to confidentiality, protection against retaliation for reporting or participating in investigations, bystander intervention strategies to stop harassment when witnessed, and consequences for violators. This training emphasizes that preventing harassment is everyone's responsibility and that creating a culture of respect, inclusion, and accountability benefits all employees and strengthens organizational success.
